The guided tour starts from Piazza Vittorio Alfieri, which is dedicated to the famous writer who was born in this town in 1749. Moving toward the small Piazza San Secondo, you reach the Collegiate Church of Saint Secondo, built between the Thirteenth and the Fourteenth centuries in the typical Piedmontese gothic style, that preserves inside precious artistic works. Next to it, there is the Town Hall, projected during the Eighteenth Century by the famous Piedmontese architect Benedetto Alfieri. Walking among medieval towers, you cross the ancient Jewish ghetto, where the Synagogue built in the Nineteenth century reminds the presence of a Community that was active and integrated in the life of city for many centuries. From Piazza Roma you go on along the central street of the city, Corso Vittorio Alfieri, whith its beautiful Baroque buildings: Mazzetti Palace, Ottolenghi Palace and Alfieri family’s one, where the writer was born. You enter the impressive Cathedral of Saint Mary, one of the biggest in Piedmont, where the rigor of medieval architecture is mixed with the pomp of Baroque fresco decoration. A stop in Piazza Cairoli in order to watch the Red Tower, built by Romans in the first century b.C. The walk finishes under Troyana Tower, which is 44 meters high; it is the highest tower in town.
