Day 1: discovering Asti, the town of 100 towers! In a tour among medieval churches, baroque buildings and suggestive glimpses, a lot of curiosities and legends will be shown, from the birth of the Palio race to the arrival of Savoia, until the famous characters protagonist of its history, from Carlo Magno to Vittorio Alfieri. Moving to the ancient village of San Damiano d’Asti, placed in the so called Alfieri Hills, in confluence with Monferrato, Langhe and Roero Hills. Dinner at “Cava dei vini” restaurant. Overnight. Day 2: departure to Alba, undisputed Capital of the Langhe. In its charming historical centre towers and medieval fortresses alternate with the porticoes of the noble houses, remembering the families that between XIII and XV century granted power to the town. Going through again the Roman streets of the ancient “Alba Pompeia” You will find elegant squares and majestic churches, particularly the Cathedral dedicated to St. Lorenzo, saint patron of the town. You can’t resist to the inviting aroma of chocolates and truffles and the luxurious boutiques and jewelries shop windows.

TorinoFORMULA WEEKEND PLUS. FROM THE FIRST CAPITAL OF ITALY TO THE HART OF BAROLO WINE.

The package includes 1 half day guided tour and 1 full day guided tour, both in English by a professional tour guide. The offer is valid all year long.

Day 1: You can’t help being enchanted by the beauty of the baroque heart of Turin, perfectly preserved, where squares, churches and buildings built between the XVII and XVIII century seem to race in majesty and elegance, giving voice to the glorious past of the first Capital of Italy. The tour in the historical centre starts in Piazza Castello, heart of the town, that hostes Palazzo Madama, with its monumental baroque façade designed by the famous Juvarra, and the Royal Palace, official residence of Savoia family until 1865. Following the entrance to the baroque church of St. Lorenzo, the first work in Turin by Guarini, and the Cathedral of St. Giovanni, in Renaissance style. Joining the Palatine Towers and the ruins of the Roman theatre, You will arrive in Via Roma, with luxurious boutiques, and Piazza San Carlo, the real cultural gathering of Turin, with its historical patisseries and the typical “twin” churches. The last stop will be Piazza Carignano, one of the most hidden corner of Turin, hosting the famous Palazzo Carignano and the same named theatre; in the square there is also the famous “Ristorante del Cambio”, daily visited by the Count of Cavour. Moving to San Damiano d’Asti for the dinner and overnight. Day 2: departure to the wonderful Langhe of Barolo, discovering fascinating castles and the fine wine Barolo d.o.c.g., known in world wide as the “King of the wines and the Wine of the Kings”. First stop at the castle of Grinzane Cavour, with its medieval frame perfectly preserved, where the famous Camillo Benso the Count of Cavour lived for more than a decade; some rooms host an interesting museum dedicated to the past crafts and tradition in Langhe Hills. In the Regional Wine shop placed in the cellars of the castle it’s possible to taste and buy wines and other typical products, as truffle creams and nougats sweets. Second step will be a famous winery, visiting the winemaking establishments, to the suggestive cellars and final taste. Lunch at restaurant or farmhouse restaurant tasting typical foods from Langhe. In the afternoon moving to Barolo, the Capital of this important hill district, with a walk in the town centre and a visit to the famous Castle, which for more than 600 years was the summer residence of the powerful Falletti Marquises. Today the castle houses the Wine Museum, a suggestive multimedia and multisensory walk discovering the wine culture in all its aspects, from the historical- legendary one, to the anthropological and economical point of view, without forgetting the influence on arts and fun. Stop at the Regional Wine Shop of Barolo, placed in the cellars of the castle, showing more than 180 labels of this fine wine. The day will end with a walk in the village of La Morra, rich in history and panoramic glimpses, with the beautiful baroque Parish church and the Civic Tower. From the breathtaking balcony You can have a 360° view on Langhe up to the Alps and the first towns of Liguria.
