A suggestive panoramic tour among the sweet slopes in Low Monferrato area, in the Province of Asti, among woods, grazings and vineyards. The first stop will be at the Romanesque Church of Saint Secondo, near to the village of Cortazzone, which dominates the entire valley from the hill Mongiglietto. That church was founded around the year 1000, and still stands out for the richness of sculptures with mysterious symbols. Second stop will be the church of Saints Nazario and Celso, few km far from Montechiaro d’Asti: situated in open country, still proudly preserves its impressive bell-tower. The morning will end in the famous Abbey of Saint Mary of Vezzolano, a masterpiece of national medieval architecture. Centre of religious, political and economical power until the Sixteenth century, it hosted princes and kings, and still preserves an original pulpit and a precious fresco decorations in the cloister, dated to the XIII and XIV centuries. Lunch at farm holiday based on typical local foods. In the afternoon moving to Castell’Alfero, in order to visit the impressive castle of Amico Counts, built in the Eighteenth century by the famous architect Benedetto Alfieri; inside suggestive cellars it houses the rural museum called “L’Ciar”, which recollects different objects connected to usual activities and works from the past country life. The last stop over will be an important farm, to find out and buy typical products from Monferrato like cheese, salami and the fine meat of Fassone Ox. Among the local wines, don’t miss the Barbera d’Asti docg, the Grignolino, the Ruchè and the sweet Malvasia from Casorzo.

After breakfast, departure in direction of Lands of Aleramo the knight, the first Marquise of Monferrato, among vineyards of Barbera, Ruchè and Grignolino. The first stop over will be in Montemagno, one of the few villages with the original urban plant, dominated by an impressive castle of Ghibelllini. Subsequently moving to Moncalvo, in the past strategic centre for the Marquisate and today famous “Capital” for the White Truffle from Monferrato. Moncalvo still preserves medieval streets, palaces and beautiful churches where You can find paintings by Guglielmo Caccia, an important Piedmontese artist who lived in the Seventeenth century.
